Day 22 Swakopmund to Namibia Desert 300 kms Day 23
Great breakfast with awesome views of the huge boulders surrounding the lodge.
Driving through the rocky country was fabulous and then we went into plain desert country with nothing around for miles. Stopped and had our picture taken at the Tropic Of Capricorn and moved onto our next destination of Solitaire, the names explains it all. This was a quaint spot covered with cactus and car ruins which had a great bakery shop the peppered steak pies were simply divine. We then moved over to our overnight stay at Namib Desert Lodge we arrived early, nice accommodation in a desert, we had a tour booked to go to the Petrified Forest at 4.00 pm. Bruce attended to the Mistress because she wasn’t performing to well, changed spark plugs and did the usual service and I had a Nana nap. At 3.45 pm made my way to the bus to find Bruce happily drinking at the bar, he stayed on drinking and I went on to have a very informative tour over awesome red sand dunes and wonderful large rock formations, their the group and I had an sundowner with extremely strong gin and tonics overlooking a stunning sunset, arrived back waited for Bruce to shower had tea and retired early to bed for an early start tomorrow .
