Day 19. Etosha Pan National Park. Rest Day Easy morning where we have a free day had a lovely breakfast and cruised through the national park. We saw our first jackal many zebras, giraffe, rhinoceros and many of the larger birds. Stopped and had our first ice cream instead of a lunch and then on our way again to the other end of the park, it takes 4 hours to go from end to end we saw many more oryx, springboks water buffalo and elephants. When existing the park we had a further 15 kms to drive to our overnight stay at Ongava Lodge when we saw a herd of 50 elephants making their way across the road. We turned of the engine and watch half the herd crossing the road when all of a sudden the very large bull elephant starting roaring and flapping his ears and charging towards us, Bruce said “shit! we need to get moving” however by this time their were many cars blocking the road so this was never possible, we kept watching to find that some of the tourist had blocked their path which upset the bull elephant, he then blew his trumpet on many occasions and the elephants who had crossed the road came back to his side where he calmed down by this time 40 minutes had passed by and we had to be at our camp in 15 minutes, hurried up the road to another spectacular view surrounded by our rock built lodges. They had two waterholes down in the valley which we could view from the dining area and rooms, wonderful setting. Went on an another safari drive that evening however not to much seen this night had tea and early night to a very exciting elephant day
